Brownstein & Nguyen LLC is pleased to announce the first Freedom Scholarship for foreign-born students attending a 4-year college program. The scholarship, awarded to one student each academic year, is $750 per semester or $1,500 per year which may be used for tuition, books & fees, housing or other living expenses.

Brownstein & Nguyen, an Atlanta-based law firm specializing in the areas of immigration, business law and personal injury, has served the legal needs of its clients for over 23 years. The firm’s immigration practice extends well beyond Georgia, with clients stretching across the United States and representing many countries abroad.

To be eligible for the Freedom Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be between the ages of 17 and 25;
  • Be accepted and currently enrolled full-time in a 4-year degree program at a college or university in the southeastern United States;
  • Maintain active full-time enrollment for the scholarship period;
  • Be either a foreign-born legal permanent resident of the United States or naturalized U.S. citizen;
  • Submit an application as outlined below.

Application Guidelines

Applicants must submit an essay of between 750 and 1500 words discussing the applicant’s journey as an immigrant, academic achievements and educational and broader life goals. Essays should be sent as a PDF or Word attachment to an email sent to [email protected] and received no later than December 29th, 2017. Submission emails must include the applicant’s name, address and phone number, and identify the college or university the applicant is currently attending. Essays will be judged based on responsiveness to the topics posted, composition, writing style and grammar, and thoughtfulness and originality. Applicants will be considered based on personal character and academic achievement or promise.

Winners will be announced on or before January 19th and will be contacted by email and phone. No phone calls please; only email submissions meeting the requirements above will be considered.
