Jay Brownstein is a seasoned trial lawyer and trained civil mediator with 35 years of experience in state and federal court litigation and appeals. For the last 30 years, his practice has focused on complex personal injury, business and employment litigation including wrongful death, automobile, premises liability and catastrophic injury cases; shareholder & partnership disputes, investor fraud, fiduciary duty, business torts and commercial litigation; wage & hour, discrimination, whistleblower and wrongful termination matters; and consumer class actions. Before that, Mr. Brownstein litigated bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, commercial and technology disputes. Mr. Brownstein graduated from Florida State University in 1985, and received his law degree in 1988 from Emory University School of Law. He is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of Georgia, and the Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeals.
In addition to his law and mediation practices, Mr. Brownstein is a part-time instructor in the Kessler-Edison Trial Techniques Program and State Bar of Georgia Orientation on Professionalism at Emory University School of Law. He is also a Fellow of the Lawyers Foundation of Georgia.
Born in Merritt Island, Florida in 1963, Jay practices law with his wife and law partner, Tien Nguyen, a native of Vietnam. They have one daughter. In his spare time, Jay enjoys fitness activities and spending time with family, including travel whenever possible.
